Meet Nikki Hodgson
I’m Nikki, the dog trainer and agility coach behind Unleashed Pawtential in Thorner, Leeds.
I help dogs and handlers build the skills, confidence and connection they need to progress—from puppies learning their first foundations to competitive agility teams aiming for the podium.
From Obedience Classes to Championship Agility
My dog-training journey began when I joined obedience classes with my teenage Labrador. That experience sparked a fascination with how dogs learn and how much can be achieved when training is clear, rewarding and tailored to the individual dog.
I eventually discovered agility and never looked back. What began as a hobby became a commitment to studying successful trainers, developing my handling and understanding the details that create confident, fast and accurate performances.
I currently compete at Grade 7 and in Championship classes. My experience includes reaching the Longfield Novice Final and Steeplechase Final and attending Team GB tryouts.
My Coaching Approach
I understand the frustration of feeling stuck, watching other teams progress and wondering what you’re missing. My job as a coach is to identify what is holding you back and give you practical, understandable steps that move your training forward.
My coaching is supportive, honest and adapted to the dog and handler in front of me. I particularly enjoy developing handling skills, confidence and connection on course, alongside technical skills such as fast, independent weaves.
I’m proud to have helped students improve their handling, build stronger partnerships and progress through the agility grades.
