About Dog Agility

Dog agility is a fast-paced and highly competitive sport that showcases the teamwork between a handler and their dog as they navigate an obstacle course against the clock. It is one of the most popular dog sports in the country, with competitions held at all levels, from grassroots events to prestigious championships.

The sport is open to all breeds and sizes, with different jump heights and categories to ensure fair competition. Handlers guide their dogs through a course of jumps, tunnels, weave poles, and contact equipment, aiming for a clear round with no faults while achieving the fastest time possible.

The UK has a thriving agility scene, with major organizations such as The Kennel Club, UK Agility (UKA), and British Agility offering different competition structures and progression systems.

Train with us

I first discovered dog agility while exploring the world of dog training. Wanting to learn more, I started with obedience classes, but when I found agility, I was instantly hooked. The combination of speed, strategy, and teamwork fascinated me, and I quickly realized this was the sport I wanted to dedicate myself to.

What I love most about agility is the thrill of running with my dog, watching him think through each challenge, and the satisfaction of nailing a tricky course with a clear round. Over the years, I’ve worked hard to progress, reaching Grade 7 and competing in championship classes. A highlight of my journey so far has been making it to the Longfield Novice Final, and the steeplechase final, and I got to participate in tryouts for Team GB! My next goal is to qualify for a championship final and achieve clear rounds in Crufts qualifiers.

My training philosophy is all about keeping the dog confident, engaged, and happy. I reward a lot, break down skills so they’re easy to understand, and always make sure training is a positive experience. I particularly love training weave poles—there’s so much you can do to refine and perfect them! I’ve had the opportunity to work with a variety of breeds, including Spaniels, Collies, German and Belgian Shepherds, Cockapoos, and Labradors, which has deepened my understanding of how different dogs approach agility.

Agility is more than just a sport to me—it’s a passion, a journey, and a constant learning experience. I’m excited to see where it takes me next!
